I know it is a drag when we have a pile of singers and each Karaoke fan is sitting for an hour waiting to sing. This is hard on me too because I want everyone to have the best time possible. So I spend time in my day trying to improve things on the Karaoke circuit.
Here is my idea for singers to get more singing time when it is busy and some of you have figured this out already. More duets, trios and group songs equal more singing time for fans. In the rotation each person gets one song per rotation but if you organize yourselves into each others spotlight then by sharing the spotlight you sing more. To keep my job simple please only put each song (duet, trio, or group) in under one persons name. This way the rotation stays smaller if you know what I mean.
This system for busy nights will allow singers to possibly sing 2, 3, 4, times per rotation. Remember 12 singers add up to about an hour of singing. So when the number tops 24 or more then each singer might be lucky to sing 2 songs a night as a solo act...... Just something to think about.
Singing is an expression of how you feel… If you are happy, sad, frustrated, in Love or even spiritual expressing yourself in song is a healthy way to live. Karaoke is a great way to have singing in your life!

NEW IDEAS FOR ENCOURAGING NEW PEOPLE TO SING AND INCREASE THE FUN!
Get Paid to sing Karaoke!
- We take a collection at hourly increments using the tip bucket after each collection the bucket will be counted and it will be announced how large the prize is!
- The size of the pot is announced after each collection.
- 50% goes to new music! So if the pot is $100.. $50 = prize / $50 = music money!
- The winner is DRAWN! and has no relation to talent in any way. I may number the tickets and assign those numbers to dominoes or ping pong balls to make the drawing more fair.
- Singers must hand in a ticket that has only their name written on it. Handing in this ticket tell me you want to be in the drawing.
- Entries can be disqualified by anyone in the audience for breaking the rules including being too drunk, use of foul language, or abuse to equipment and or staff. A disqualified singer can reenter but must again follow the rules to qualify (I am thinking this part may or may not work). This will be a great rule education tool! Obviously someone too drunk might not get a second chance on the same night and problematic people will not be allowed to enter the contest if they have a bad history.
- Singers can sing in a group but each person must hand in a ticket.
- I will still keep working on flamingo cup holders and Rock Star boxer shorts.
- I need to check with TW's to see if they approve or if this is considered illegal like gambling or something.
- If things get rough for any reason the contest entry will close and a drawing will only include entries up to the time that control is lost. So no fighting, no biting, no spitting, and no nothing disrespectful to anyone in my presence muzzle it or your night is over!

HAVING FUN, FOLLOWING RULES, AND RESPECT FOR ALL!
Karaoke is about having fun but there are exceptions as there must be for everything in our world. I must make judgment in cases where fun for some is unpleasant for others. In an attempt to avoid conflicts I have written down some rules to go by.
The following actions that will cause reactions and possibly end your singing for the night or permanently.
The following actions that will cause reactions and possibly end your singing for the night or permanently.
- No being disrespectful.
- No exceeding normal volume into the microphone. I will not tolerated screaming, shouting, or extreme use of my amplified system into the ears of those in the venue.
- No use of extreme language that does not match the song or the audience in the venue…Simply be considerate of those listening and I am sensitive to the elderly who attend this venue.
- No inappropriate or degrading statements said while using my system added into the song or said between verses.
- Do not mistreat my equipment, do not leave the stage area with a microphone, and do not swing the microphone.
- Do not barge into the singing of others without being invited.
- Keep yourself under control..Loss of control due to excess alcohol or drugs.
